I no longer dare voice an opinion on most things - as a brown man who was not born a citizen of this country, the risks present themselves as far too high at the moment. But I still have a lot of questions.
How does one determine whether a person is fundamentally morally vacuous or simply so brainwashed by propaganda that they can’t help themselves?
Who is allowed to engage in terrorism and be rewarded for it, and who is not? And who gets to decide?
Who is allowed to have and/or use nuclear weapons, and who is not? And who gets to decide?
Who is allowed to unilaterally and or “pre-emptively” wage war and unleash destruction on others, and who is not? And who gets to decide?
Who is allowed to oppress, occupy, and murder whilst asserting moral and human superiority, and who is not? And who gets to decide?
Who is allowed to say “I’m going to destroy you unless you accept peace on my terms” and who is not? And who gets to decide?
Will we ever rid ourselves of systemic oppression, or has it simply been too long in the making?
History has always been written by the winners - and by that we really mean those who wield physical and financial might. They get to write the scripts, and having consolidated power and wealth over decades and centuries, they get to control it.
Damien Marley had a great question too in The Struggle Discontinues :
Well if the struggle continue then
When will we overcome?
A good opportunity would be Zohran Mamdani overcoming Andrew Cuomo in New York. One represents the establishment, has the support of the super PAC crowd and big money in general, oh, and is coming back after having to resign in disgrace because of a slew of sexual harassment allegations. I guess to nobody’s surprise, he’s the one who is in the lead.
