I’m pretty slow at binging TV shows. A few years ago I discovered a show called Brooklyn Nine Nine. I’m just reaching the tail end of the 2nd season.
Watched an episode this evening over an ice-cream after a long day. One of the characters’ father is a pilot for a fictional airline called Tribute Air. Some characters take a trip on Tribute Air from New York to Quebec City. So far so good. And then it falls apart. Sure, nothing about the show is realistic, but couldn’t they at least try?
They fly from New York to Quebec City on an A340. I wish. Though having flown in the upper deck of a 747 from LAX to SFO a couple of times, I guess it could happen. Except…
The A340 has a Tribute Air livery on the front of the fuselage, but the tail is 100% Emirates. I suppose at least Emirates did fly the A340 years ago, but if you’re doing the photoshop job, surely you could sort out the tail as well?
They then arrive, for some reason, at Drummondville Airport, a few miles South West of Quebec City (which very much has its own airport). Small airport, short runway. It’s plausible that the A340 could just about land there if well executed. Unfortunately it would never be able to leave without taking a road trip to Quebec City or Montreal first.
And then what’s this I see at what was asserted to be Drummondville Airport - it’s a LOT 737 and ClickAir A320. ClickAir was a Spanish airline that ceased to exist in 2009. This was set in 2015. Two European short-haul aircraft got me wondering what airport this was, especially because it looked familiar. And bingo, it’s WAW - Warsaw Chopin Airport.
Because why wouldn’t you use an Emirates A340 and Warsaw airport to represent a 1 hour hop from New York to Quebec?
Thanks for indulging my cathartic rant. Fully aware that my finding most science fiction to be more plausible than this is a bit off, but I own that with pleasure!
